New Professional Service Offerings and Design Guidance help Service Providers deliver additional value to SMBs
(NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced enhanced integration with Microsoft to deliver enterprise-class data protection solutions to cloud service providers by leveraging the Microsoft Dynamic Data Center Toolkit for Hosters. Although enterprise-class data protection has historically been too expensive for most small- and medium-size businesses (SMBs) to implement themselves, NetApp and Microsoft now enable service providers to offer enterprise-class data protection to their SMB customers. Additionally, NetApp announced the availability of new professional service offerings and additional resources and guidance for service providers to build a variety of enterprise-class cloud services.
“SMB customers have many of the same disaster recovery and business continuity requirements as large enterprise organizations, but often times don’t have the necessary skill set or budget needed to achieve the desired results,” said Laura DuBois, program vice president, Storage Software and Solutions, IDC. “Solutions that address this gap by providing enterprise-level data protection along with the support and guidance needed to deploy will be integral in helping SMBs realize the true benefits of a cloud infrastructure.”

Nexans, global expert in cables and cabling solutions, has welcomed the latest data centre standard from the international standards organisation ISO. The standard, ISO/IEC 24764, was published in April and requires copper cabling to support a minimum frequency of at least 500MHz. This effectively limits data centre copper cabling to Class EA (500MHz), Class F (600MHz) or Class FA 1000MHz) cabling and an RJ45 compatible connector interface.
“Nexans is delighted that our GG45 connector was re-elected as the interface for Class F and Class FA. The new standard is important as it harmonises the requirements for copper cable and connectors used for data centres with the same products defined for use in office buildings. This new data centre standard will help our customers in the Middle East to ensure that their data centres are ready to handle bandwidths of 40G and more, not only with fibre, but also with copper cabling solutions” says Tarek Helmy, Regional Director Gulf and Middle East of Nexans Cabling Solutions

The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) launched the initiative in collaboration of the telecom operators where they have successfully blocked illegal Internet traffic used to unscramble the encrypted PayChannels for the first time worldwide.
H.E. Mohammed Al Ghanim, Director General of the TRA said: “The UAE gives utmost importance to Intellectual Property to ensure the most advantageous economic environment through supporting owners of property rights. This step will protect consumers against this type of fraud and it will limit infringement of Intellectual Property Rights and violation of federal laws.” In the same context, the TRA warns of the unlawful use of telecom services which harm consumers and the national economy. The TRA also urges the consumers to take caution while purchasing satellite receivers or PayChannel services by ensuring its legitimacy.
